Interview of Guillaume, member of the BDSM (Mountain Sport Office)

⇒ Hi Guillaume! So, can you introduce yourself to those who don’t know you yet?
Hi! Of course!
My name is Guillaume Colin, I am a GCC student and the Material Manager of the BDSM.

⇒ And you are also a high level athlete, aren’t you?
Yeah, in rock climbing, I won the University French Championships and I participated in a World Cup in Chamonix last year.

⇒ So, can you tell us about the BDSM, what are the purposes of this organization?
The BDSM was founded by Thomas Bioud and Marylou Pellerin, which are currently president and vice-president of the office.
The idea of creating this organization emerged in the spring of 2018 :
the main goal was to provide the opportunity for students to meet new people and to go hiking, skiing and climbing around Grenoble.
We recruited the office’s members in the different sections of Polytech, and we started the administrative steps quickly, so that the association could be ready for the school startin September 2018.
The other purpose of the BDSM is the equipment loan : we provide members with mountain equipment.
The school management was rather against this idea, mainly for responsability’s reasons, that’s why I made a training, provided by the FFME (French Federation of Mountain and Climbing), in order to be able to manage the material.

⇒ Can you tell us about the events you have already organized, and those you planned to organize?
The first event we oragnized was an aperitif at the top of the Moucherotte, over the 60 participants, 50 of them took their BDSM membership after this event.
We also organized a DVA (Detecting and Locating Avalanche Victims) formation.
For the end of the year, we plan to organize a barbecue at Fort St Eynard, and for the next year, we want to organize a week end in the Callanques with the collaboration of Polytech Marseille!

Tip : How to make a paper plane

Today I will show you how to make a simple paper plane that flies well !

First you need a classic sheet of paper, place it in front of you vertically and then fold it in half vertically.

Next, you have to unfold the paper and to fold the corners into the center, as shown below.

Fold the top right edge to the center.

Now repeat with the left corner.

Then, fold the plane in half.

Finally, you just have to fold the wings down in order to meet the bottom edges of the plane body !

Job’s done, all that remains is to test it !

Rewiew : « Glass »

« Glass » is a 2019 American film written, produced and directed by Manoj Night Shyamalan. It is a sequel of « Unbreakable » and « Split » which have also been produced by Shyamalan. For those who have not seen these films, you are well advised to watch them before watching « Glass » and also before reading this article !

It is a particular superhero movie, it does not look like a Marvel movie it is closer to a thriller.
It depicts the main characters of « Unbreakable » and « Split » :
• Bruce Willis is back as the unbreakable and overly powerful David Dunn, nicknamed « The Overseer »,
• Samuel L.Jackson plays the villain Elijah Price also known as « Mr Glass » because of its brittle bone disease,
• And James McAvoy reprises its split-personality characters Kevin Wendell Crumb, nicknamed « The Horde » by the press in reference to its 24 different personnalities.

Without revealing too much, the film begins on a frantic pace : David Dunn « The Overseer » starts chasing « The Beast », which is the twenty-fourth personality of Kevin. After finding him, the two characters are unfortunately arrested by the police and the are locked in a mental hospital, the same hospital in which Elijah Price is interned. The trio must face Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist who wants to prove them that none of them is a superhero…

I do not tell you more, it’s up to you to imagine the rest or simply to watch the movie !

Christmas Market

From November 28 to December 30, the traditionnal Christmas Market takes place in the streets of Grenoble, especially in the Victor Hugo and Grenette squares.
The market is composed of more than a hundred of mountains chalets, where you can find craftsmen or even restaurateurs who present and sell us regional products, and lots of other products related to Christmas.
You can savour a good mulled wine or a hot chocolate for the youngest, taste gingerbread or a famous and delicious raclette sandwich.
It is also the best place to find gift ideas for your loved ones!

Not far from the place Victor Hugo, in the Square of Doctor Martin, you will also find exhibitors’ chalets : these chalets form the Market of Social and Solidarity Economy.
This market is composed of five different exhibitors :

  • « Mix’Arts » : offers regionnal and organic gastronomic items,
  • « La Fabrique du Trièves » : also offers gourmet items, local products and also clothes, accessories,
  • « C’est fait ici » : a local craft stand featuring games and toys for the yougest, and decorative items,
  • « Grenoble Equitable » : a fair trade booth,
  • « Deuxième Acte » : a stand dedicated to the reuse of used objects.

« Le Bistrot de la Mixture » will give you the opportunity of savouring a « Truffade du Vercors » along with a delicious Christmas beer !
